About My Paintings
As evidenced by this page, my approach to painting is not myopic; while many artists have a signature style, I generally paint in response to something that has affected me emotionally: Often, this is music, literature, or some unexpected performance of light. Van Gogh and Chagall's colors seduce me, and in some instances ("Distant Music," "Life Without Words," "Red Leaves"), the life of my paintings resides in the behaviors and relationships of color. In other instances, such as "42nd Street Challenge" and "Paris New Year," the living art of city lights are the subjects. All of my paintings are an attempt to let others inside my head or, perhaps, my soul, to feel what I feel at given times; hopefully, despite varying styles, all of my works impart a kind of passion to those who view them.
